Gum Paddock Country Cottage was the original Silverton Tramway Billiard Hall in the early 1900’s and was transported to Gum Paddock in 1996. The ‘original’ timber flooring remains, a romantic open fireplace is the feature in the open living area, it has been decorated to reflect its era and has many a story to tell but now provides a peaceful and serene getaway for tourists looking for Pet Friendly Broken Hill accommodation that is a little different.

The Cottage features a large bedroom with a beautiful timber four (half) post double bed, plus a fold down double bed in the open living area. A fully equipped, self-contained kitchenette makes your getaway a ‘home away from home’. A private bathroom with large, walk-in shower and your own washing facilities will ensure you have everything you need whilst on your holiday.
A BBQ and outdoor setting has been set for you to sit back and enjoy your natural surroundings and watch our regular visitors, the Sulphur Crested Cockatoos, come in and say Hi. Your own private cottage garden is yours to enjoy a morning cup of tea or to sit back and gaze at the starlit sky at night or wake up to our glorious outback sunrises. Undercover parking is situated right at your back door, providing protection from the sun and close, easy access to the Cottage.

What’s the property like?
With 300 acres of natural bushland you will have plenty of space for privacy and a truly unique Pet Friendly Broken Hill Accommodation experience. Whilst here, take advantage of the outdoors and go for a walk down to the ‘old railway bridge’ or meander through the gorgeous dry creek bed. You might even catch a glimpse of a Kangaroo or two, Emus, Wedged-Tailed Eagles, a variety of Hawks, Perrigans, Magpies, Mudlarks, Ring-Neck Grass Parrot, Blue Bonnetts, Waxbill Finches, Blue-Eyed Corellas, Sulphur-Crested Cockatoos, Galahs, Willy Wagtails… just to name a few, or you might come across some sleepy lizards warming up in the sun.
For the Botany lovers, you may just stumble across some wild, native Sturt Desert Peas if you’re here at the right time of year – that’s a sight that is hard to forget. Your complimentary eggs come from our free-range chickens who live in and around our orchard –you’re welcome to go visit them and whilst your there, help yourself to the sweetest oranges and mandarins you’ve ever tasted – our lemons on pancakes are pretty yummy too. Please don’t forget to shut the gate on your way in and out, otherwise you just might find some friendly chooks at your back door. HOW TO REACH
Gum Paddock Country Cottage is situated just 9km from the GPO so you are at your outback oasis in only 5 minutes from leaving town. Travel directly along Argent Street (the main shopping precinct of Broken Hill) Which continues to the Barrier Highway, go under the highway truck camera and look for the red and green heritage-coloured builiding on the right. Trun at no 18699 through the double brick, sandstone gates and make your way to the cottage by truning left once inside the Property up through the onlive drive.
